Walkathon raises Rs 1.2m for Patan heritages

KATHMANDU, Sept 23: Kumari Bank Limited in association with Lalitpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a 19-kilometer walkathon charity event in Lalitpur district to promote local heritages, new tourist sites, and culture on Monday. 

The main objective of the walkathon was to raise funds for the reconstruction of Bhimsen Temple which was partially destructed by the devastating earthquakes in 2015.

The walkathon started from Gwarko and headed towards Imadol, Sanagaun, Lubhu, Harisiddhi, Dhapakhel, Sunakothi, and Bungamati before ending at Khokana.

The event mostly participated by the business community and entrepreneurs of Patan Durbar Square area raised fund of Rs 1.2 million for the construction of the temple, a local heritage site, according to the chamber.

The Lalitpur chamber said reconstruction and conservation of heritage sites has remained its priority for long. It has been working with the motto “Hamro Sampada, Hami Afai Banao (Our heritages, Let’s build ourselves)”.
