Shree Airlines announces discounted fares for senior citizens

KATHMANDU, Sept 24: Shree Airlines will charge only Rs 500 for Nepali passengers who are 85 years of age in its domestic flight from September 29. The airlines stated that it will provide discount on airfare and fuel surcharge for Nepali passengers aged 85 or above.    

Additionally, the airlines is providing 50% discount on airfare to Nepali citizen aged 75 or above to make traveling easy for passengers during Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals. “The discount is available on the base airfare only,” said Anil Manandhar corporate manager at Shree Airlines. 

The passenger entitled to the discount should produce official identity card or original citizenship while traveling. The discounted ticket will be available in Shree Airlines' application or its official website. 

Proof stating the age of the passenger should be presented during the check in at the airport. The discounted ticket cannot be transferred of canceled. 

“If canceled, it will be hard for the company to refund as the offer price is low,” Manandhar added. “The cancellation can leave another prospect passenger from getting the ticket.”  

According to the company, the offer will be available to two passengers in a flight.  Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Yogesh Bhattarai had announced about the 50% discount to senior citizens.  As part of the program, Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) last week had announced 50% discount on airfare for senior citizens. The discount was made available to passengers aged 70 or above. The offer came into effect from September 18. The discounted tickets for NAC have also been made available from the airlines' office. 

The privately-owned carrier currently has a fleet of two Bombardier CRJ 200 and two CRJ 700 aircraft. It operates scheduled flights to domestic destinations like Bhairahawa, Biratnagar, Bhadrapur, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi and Rajbiraj. Similarly, it operates a fleet of six MI 17 and two AS 350 B3e helicopters.
