CHITWAN, Oct 17: The 12th Tuborg Running Shield Football Knockout Tournament kicked off at Kyampachaur of Narayangadh from Monday.
A total of 15 teams including four from India are competing for the title. The tournament will run until October 15, according to organising committee publicity coordinator Siddharthalal Chuke.
A temporary parapet that can accommodate some 3,000 people has been constructed on the Kyampachaur ground.
Six teams alone from the capital—Three Star Club, Sankata, Manang Marsyangdi, Nepal Police, Tribhuvan Army and Armed Police Force have participated in the tournament.
Morang Football Club, Jhapa-11, Himalayan Sports Club, Sahara Club Pokhara, Sudurpaschim, Himalayan Sherpa Club and Chitwan-11 are other teams taking part in the soccer being held after the interval of 16 years.
The winner will go home with a cash prize of Rs 300,000 and a running shield while the runner-up will bag Rs 150,000. A player winning the 'man of the match' title every day will be awarded cash of Rs 10,000.
A prize carrying a purse of Rs 25,000 will be presented for the title of the 'Fair Play Award' while Rs 25,000 will be presented for the title of 'Man of Tournament'.
'The highest scorer' will be honoured with the cash prize of Rs 15,000. RSS
