MoHA forms probe committee into recent mass death of cows case in Surkhet

The government has formed a four-member committee to investigate the recent mass death of cows in Surkhet. The probe committee formed under the coordination of under-secretary of Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) Sagar Mani Pathak is assigned to investigate the case and submit the report within 15 days, according to the spokesperson of the ministry Ram Krishna Subedi in a press statement issued on Saturday.​

Hundred cows sent back to Nepalgunj

Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan city has received one hundred cows back on Friday night which were left stranded in Birendranagar. According to the provincial police office, 291 cows being taken to Shreesthan, Dailekh from Kanjihouse, Nepalgunj had been left at Katkuwa and Dhuliyabit forest areas in Birendranagar on Thursday night. Of them, 24 cows were found dead at Katkuwa and Dhuliyabit areas.

Nepal Army constructs 869 houses for tornado victims of Bara, Parsa

Nepal Army has constructed 869 houses under the People Shelter Reconstruction Program in Bara and Parsa districts. These shelters have been constructed at various local levels in the two districts. The structures would be handed over to the families affected by a devastating tornado that hit the two districts on March 31. Twenty-seven people were killed and property worth billions of rupees were damaged due to the tornado, first of its kind recorded in Nepal.

Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Chiranjivi Nepal has urged media persons to be aware of the negative implications of the information communication technology as the dissemination of false information through social media platforms has posed a great challenge to the entire society in recent times. Addressing the 20th general assembly of the Society of Economic Journalists Nepal (SEJON) in the capital on Saturday, he advised the media-owners and media persons to spread genuine information to the people through social media. 

12 dead, 50 injured in chemical factory blast in Maharashtra

At least 12 people were killed and around 50 injured after a series of explosions at a chemical factory in Maharashtra on Saturday, hospital officials and police said. An official at Shirpur’s sub-district hospital in Dhule district said that 12 people had died in the explosion. “There are around 37 injured admitted here, and we have transferred another 12 patients,” D.N. Wagh said. 

​Monreal leaves Arsenal for Real Sociedad

Spanish left-back Nacho Monreal has left Arsenal after six years at the London club to join La Liga side Real Sociedad on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee, both sides said on Saturday. Monreal, 33, joined Arsenal from Malaga in January 2013 and went on to make 251 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals. “During his time with us, Nacho played in his natural left-back position and also in central defense. He won three FA Cups, three Community Shields and played a big part in our run to the Europa League final last season,” said a statement from Arsenal.
