DOLAKHA, Aug 5: Seven sub-health posts in the villages of Dolakha district are without assistant health workers even as people here are suffering from various ailments. These sub-health posts are located in Orang, Bulung, Bigu, Gairimudi, Thulopatal and Sailungeshwar.

Similarly, the primary health post in Suri village is also understaffed. An employee at the primary health post complained that it did not have the required number of Auxiliary Nurse Midwives and Staff Nurses.

There are 43 sub-health posts, nine health posts, two primary health posts, and a hospital in the district. According to acting chief of the District Public Health Office Durga Prasad Shiwakoti, most of them are understaffed. Shiwakoti said most of the health workers who are transferred to remote villages did not attend their duty stations.

Locals complained that lack of enough health workers deprived them of treatment. A few days ago, four individuals of Unri village in Bulung had to visit the district headquarters to get treatment for diarrhea.
