KATHMANDU, Aug 21: Parliamentarians in the zero-hour of today's meeting of the National Assembly have drawn the attention of the government to control the activities that were against the federal democratic republic.

Calling for collective effort to further strengthen federal democratic republic, parliamentarian Balaram Banskota said," Monarchy has long ended in the country. Those conducting untoward activities to reinstate the monarchy should be taken under control and action should be taken against them."

Drawing the attention of the government towards the ongoing activities that could influence the investigation into media person Rabi Lamichhane, he said that none should affect the investigation.

Likewise, Dhankumari Khatiwada urged the government to be serious about disaster preparedness and relief and compensation to the disaster-hit people in various parts of the country.

She spoke of the need to carry on the construction works on the 43 works along the Madan Bhandari Highway in Udhyapur as per the DPR and arable land should not be destroyed.

Similarly, in the special hour of NA meeting, parliamentarian Kali Bahadur Malla, referencing the Ravi Lamichhane detention case, opined that the social networking sites and social media could not ascertain someone's innocence and prove one guilty. According to him, it is the judiciary that dispenses justice. Not the mob.

Suman Raj Pyakurel urged the government to broach the issue relating to the Koshi River Agreement with the Indian side in the fifth meeting of Nepal-India Joint Commission.

He viewed that every year Nepal was bearing the brunt of urging the monsoon since India did not implement the Koshi Agreement. "The people of Saptari and Udayapur are now in relay strike. The demands of protesting people should be addressed."

Mukta Kumari Yadav questioned why the cases of suicide were on the rise in the country lately and asked the government to initiate measures to address the issue.

Komal Oli suggested the incumbent government to float the matter regarding agreement related to hydro resources in the joint meeting of the Nepal-India joint commission.

Taradevi Bhatta demanded with the government for job creations for youth at home while Rampreet Pashwan argued that those citizens meeting all the criteria to obtain citizenship identity cards should be granted the same.

Khim Kumar BK and Ram Narayan Bidari demanded action against those affecting or influencing the investigation regarding media person Ravi Lamichhane.

Ramesh Prasad Yadav demanded the report of the Lal Commission be made public while Prakash Panta drew the attention of the government not to induct other people in the Teacher's Service Commission quota meant for differently-abled ones.
