In a meeting with Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai on Wednesday, EU Ambassador to Nepal Veronica Cody welcomed the process initiated by the government to split the CAAN’s regulatory and service provider role.

Disbanding CAAN was among the requirements set by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) to reconsider Nepal’s position on the EU Air Safety List.

Speaking in the meeting, Cody mentioned the importance of working together with the government to address the air safety concerns of DG MOVE communicated to CAAN previously and said that EU stands ready to support the government.
