KATHMANDU, Aug 8: Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Co-operatives and Natural Resources has passed a 'Bill Related to Land (Eighth Amendment) 2075' on Thursday.

The bill was endorsed during a meeting of the committee today by incorporating suggestions given by the committee members and experts and amendment proposals tabled by lawmakers, chairperson of the committee Purna Kumari Subedi informed. She also reiterated that the bill would be forwarded to the House of Representatives (HoR) at the earliest.

The bill has proposed to allow the industries, academies, companies or institutions to use the land for once if they have bought and used the land exceeding land ceiling prior to the end of last fiscal year.

The bill also includes a special provision to provide land to landless and squatters in the urban areas.

"We have also included the provision of utilizing state-owned pasturelands for constructing government offices taking the permission of the government," said Chairperson Subedi.

The bill tabled by the Ministry of Land Reforms, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation was under consideration of the committee for about two months.
