RANJHA, August 4: The Bheri Hospital at Nepalgunj is witnessing the increasing number of kidney patients visiting hospital for dialyses services. Around 9 to 10 kidney patients are being provided free dialyses services in three shifts on a daily basis, according to the hospital's homeodialysis unit chief Dr Paras Shrestha.

There are altogether 23 patients registered for dialysis service in the hospital. They often have to queue up in lines for long to receive service. Dr Shrestha explained, "The hospital has only four dialysis machines- one defunct, three operative- which is not sufficient to provide prompt dialysis services to the increasing number of kidney patients thronging the hospital." According to him, the relatives of the patients daily visit the hospital to secure the quota for dialysis. He bemoaned that the patients there were facing problems in lack of adequate dialysis machines and skilled human resources to operate the machine.

Chief Medial Superintendent of Bheri Hospital Dr Rupananda Adhikari informed that the repair of the defunct dialysis machine was underway, considering the increasing number of kidney patients seeking dialysis services in the hospital.
