NCP Chairman Dahal embarks on trip to UAE

Chairperson of ruling NCP Pushpa Kamal Dahal embarked on a trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday. He is accompanied by his spouse Sita and daughters Renu and Ganga. Dahal, who is also the former prime minister, will return to home on August 3. 

World Day against Trafficking in Persons being observed today

The U.S. Government’s 2018 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report had ranked Nepal as a tier 2 country while identifying Nepal as a source, transit and destination country for human trafficking. According to data made public by the Women and Children Service Directorate (WCSD) of the Nepal Police, 227 cases related to human trafficking were recorded in Fiscal Year 2016/17 and 305 in the fiscal year 2017/18 at the WCSD.

CM Raut rejects possibility of cabinet reshuffle in Province 2

Lal Babu Raut, the chief minister of Province 2, has rejected the possibility of the cabinet being reshuffled in his province. Speaking at an interaction in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Raut said that the incumbent government in the province will last for five years. "There is no alternative to the present government in the province. I don't see the possibility of the cabinet being reshuffled at the moment," he said.

Drug abusers in Rupandehi account for 52% of drug abusing population in Province 5

Statistics prepared by the State 5 Police Office show a high incidence of drug abuse in Province 5 in the past three fiscal years. According to DYSP Nawaraj Pokharel, Spokesperson for the State 5, Police team and the local clubs at the border points are trying to the best of their ability to minimize the number of drug abuse cases in the State.

Police seize 60 kg marijuana from car with Indian plate number

Police have seized a car with Indian number plate with a cache of marijuana hidden inside it on Tuesday. Police have also arrested four Indian nationals who were on board on the charge of smuggling marijuana.

Chairman of Club Déjà Vu Manoj Shrestha arrested

Police arrested Manoj Shrestha, the chairman of Durbarmarg-based Club Déjà Vu on the charge of bank fraud on Sunday from the Tribhuvan International Airport while he was returning to home from Hong Kong. Police had been searching for him after including his name in their most wanted list for a long time.
