KATHMANDU, July 26: Nepal Student Union, the student wing of the Nepali Congress, held a demonstration at Maitighar Mandal in the capital on Friday to exert pressure on the government to take action against the perpetrator who brutally raped and murdered Nirmala Panta last year.
The NSU cadres chanted slogans against the government and Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa while carrying placards and banners that read "Justice for Nirmala" and "When will Nirmala get justice?"
The protestors accused the government of being apathetic towards the rape and murder case of Nirmala.
Panta, a 13-year-old girl of Bhimdatta municipality in Kanchanpur district, had been found dead at a sugarcane farm after being raped on July 27, 2018.
