67 percent population vaccinated against COVID-19 in Bagmati

KATHMANDU, Dec 2: About 67 percent of the population in Bagmati Province has been vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD), 1.8 million people have been fully vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccines whereas 601,913 have already received their first jabs and are waiting for a second shot.

Basanta Adhikari, spokesperson for the MoSD, said that the trend of people getting vaccinated has increased. As soon as the government started providing enough vaccines for people, the vaccination campaign gained momentum.

There are 783,031 people yet to be vaccinated in the province. Covishield, Vero Cell, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines have been administered against COVID-19 in Bagmati.

Meanwhile, the District Health Office, Makwanpur, has stated that there are enough COVID-19 vaccines in the district. According to the office, 59 percent of the population has been vaccinated against COVID-19. Of which the maximum number of people are from Hetauda Submetropolitan City.

In rural and remote hilly areas, 24 to 30 percent have been vaccinated against COVID-19. In the district, 59 percent have been vaccinated with the first dose and 51 percent have been fully vaccinated, according to the office.

The district has a population of 304,647 people over the age of 18 and the aim is to vaccinate everyone against COVID-19 in the current fiscal year, said Laxman Ghimire, information officer for the office.
