KATHMANDU, June 1: Police on Friday arrested a murder-accused man, who had been on the lam for the past nine months, from his hideout in Godawari Municipality-13, Lalitpur.

A team of officials from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD), Teku, arrested Moti Dhan Rai aka Dheeraj who has been accused of murdering his friend Chhatra Bahadur Rai in a sty at Tokha in the capital on August 18, last year. He was on the run ever since.

Locals of Tokha Municipality-3 had found the corpse of Chhatra Bahadur containing several fresh wounds on the following morning and had contacted the police. The MPCD had run an investigation into the case.  Police investigation found that Chhatra and Moti had been friends for five months and had entered a pig-rearing business at the same time.

The investigating team of the MPCD found that the duo had had a heated argument after drinking alcohol resulting in such a fate. According to the locals, Moti and Chhatra worked together throughout the day on August 18. They were butchering the pigs on their farm together.  After selling the meat, they had sat down for drinking at a local tavern.

However, they had an argument over some issue.
Eye-witnesses have told the MPCD team that after the argument, Moti had stormed out of the tavern in their only vehicle to the farm. Chhatra reportedly followed him to the sty where they had the exchange of blows.  Chhatra succumbed to several deep injuries all over his bodies including his head. Moti had been on the lam ever since.
