BARA, May 20: Students hit by last month's tornado in Bara district were handed over stationery items and books during a charity program on Sunday. 

Women's Association for World Peace, Nepal chapter provided the materials to 877 students of the district.

The materials were handed to the students of Nepal Rastriya Lower Secondary School (650 students) in Devtal Rural Municipality-6, Rauwahi and Nepal Rastriya Primary School(227 students) located in Rampurwa-7 of the same rural municipality. 

Each student was provided with six exercise books, two pens, a Nepali and an English dictionary, a notebook, and a stationary box.

Addressing the function, chief guest Shova Gyawali stressed the importance of education for students, particularly for young ones. 

She also pointed out the need for a proper learning environment for young learners. 

Gyawali also talked about the need for proper reconstruction and further addition of the physical infrastructure of the schools in Bara.

She highlighted the need for investment in the education sector in order to attain the government's vision of “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali. 

Chairperson of Nepal chapter of Women's Association for World Peace, Blessie Gadon Dhakal, was also present at the function. She said that the primary reason for her presence at the function was to be able to understand the gravity of the devastation that the children faced.
