The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) strongly objected the Bill to Amend and Integrate Media Council Act registered by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology at the Parliament Secretariat recently.
Chairman of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timalsina said on Tuesday that he would take initiatives to make the proposed Bill to Amend and Integrate Media Council Act more media-friendly. The NA chairman also said that it is a good opportunity for the government to make changes in the proposed media law since it is under the consideration of the Parliament.
Karna Bahadur Nakal aka Shishir, the in-charge of the Rukum East of the Biplab-led Nepal Communist Party, was arrested on Tuesday morning. Police arrested the district leader of the underground NCP from Sanibheri rural municipality-3 of the district. Nakal misbehaved and manhandled the police personnel when they were trying to arrest him.
The number of visitors to Bhaktapur has increased this year, resulting in rise in revenue to the Bhaktapur municipality. A total 219,029 tourists including 93,530 from SAARC countries and China, and 125,499 from other countries visited Bhaktapur in 2074 BS while 253,863 tourists including 115,906 from SAARC countries and China, and 137,957 tourists from other countries visited the ancient town in 2075 BS.
The social media giant Facebook Inc is headed toward an agreement with the U.S. government over its privacy policies and practices that would put it under 20 years of oversight. The agreement would resolve a probe of whether the company violated a similar consent pact reached in 2011.
AS Roma’s combative midfielder Daniele De Rossi will end his playing career at the club after 18 years, during which he made 615 appearances and scored 63 goals in all competitions. The club confirmed in a statement that Roma’s final game of the season - at home to Parma - would be his last for the club he joined as a teenager in 2000. Roma added that he would continue his playing career elsewhere.
