Nepal-Vietnam agree to cooperate each-other in regional, int'l forums including UN

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc were agreed to cooperate and coordinate between the two countries at regional and international forums including the United Nations.In a joint communiqué issued during the ongoing visit of Prime Minister Oli to the Southeast Asian nation, the two leaders stated that they shared similar views on various regional and international issues of mutual interest.

12 Indian nationals arrested for operating illegal networking business in Nepal

At least twelve Indian nationals have been arrested for their alleged involvement in operating illegal networking business in Nepal. Acting on the tip-off, a team of Metropolitan Crime Range arrested the Indian nationals during a raid at Durbarmarg-based Hotel Yak and Yeti in the capital on Friday night when they were running training and orientation to run the illegal networking business in Nepal. Some Nepali nationals are also said to be involved in the business which is now prohibited in Nepal.

Security beefed up along Nepal-India border

The Indian security forces have adopted high alertness at various places along the Nepal-India border in Nawalparasi district in view of the Lok Sabha (parliamentary) elections in India.The security has been beefed up along the border area as the Bihar state of India prepares for the Lok Sabha elections on May 12. Security has been tightened at Thuthibari, Guthi Prasauni, Bishnapura and Bhujahawa transit points on the border in west Nawalparasi.

Popular radio program presenter Suraj Shrestha passes away

Popular radio program presenter Suraj Shrestha has passed away on Saturday. He was 45. Shrestha breathed his last at 2:15 am at Om Hospital, Chabahil where he had been admitted for treatment of motor neuron disease, according to family sources. Shrestha was a familiar program presenter at Image FM. He went on to become the station manager of Image FM. 

Rice worth over Rs 5 billion imported in nine months

 Rice worth over Rs 5 billion was imported via Nepalgunj checkpoint till April 13 of the current fiscal year. A total of 97,732 metric tonnes of rice was imported till April 13 from the beginning of the current fiscal year. An officer at Nepalgunj Customs Office, Paramananda Joshi, said that the rice was imported from India and the office collected Rs 3.926 million revenue from it during the period. The rice imported via Nepalgunj check point is consumed in local markets and hilly districts.

Dozens of migrants drown off Tunisia coast after leaving Libya

At least 65 migrants drowned on Friday when their boat capsized in the Mediterranean Sea off the Tunisian coast after they had left Libya hoping to reach Europe, the U.N. refugee agency UNHCR said. The state-run Tunis Afrique Presse agency gave a death toll of at least 70 people. It was one the deadliest shipwrecks involving migrants trying to reach Europe this year.
