KATHMANDU, May 4: Chyasal Youth Club has stunned its fellow A-Division opponent and departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) Club 2-1 to enter the final of the ongoing Second Roj Bahini Chandragiri Gold Cup football tournament in Chandragiri on Friday.

In the second semifinal match played at the Naikap Stadium in Naikap, Chyasal has moved closer to winning the title after stunning APF and will now vie against another first division team Saraswati Youth Club, which beat Jawalakhel Youth Club 1-0 on Thursday. The final will be played on Sunday.

Foreign player Armand scored both the Chyasal goals, while Pradeep Lama pulled one back for the losing departmental side.

Armand opened the scoring in the 26th minute in a highly-competitive match as captain Amir Shrestha gave a clever pass to him. He beat the offside trap and provided a header to score.

However, Chyasal’s lead could not last long as Lama equalized in the 33rd minute. Santosh Shrestha gave a cross to Lama and the ball bounced ahead of Chyasal keeper Dinesh Thapa Magar and went in.

Chyasal left it late to score the winning goal as Amir gave a pass to Armand and he beat the offside trap again to score the goal in the injury time and send his team to the final.

APF got other chances, as well as Santosh, gave a pass to Lama, but his shot went wide in the first minute, while Chyasal got another chance as Niya passed the ball to Armand, and he could not hit the target in the 15th minute.

Also, APF’s Aashish Lama gave a long pass to Pradeep, but his header just went over the bar in the 28th minute, while Nishan Khadka’s shot in the 38th minute went wide.
Chyasal’s Tshering Gurung was named the man of the match and was rewarded with Rs 5,000.
