ROLPA, April 30: An unidentified group detonated an improvised explosive device targeting Province 5 Chief Minister Shankhar Pokhrel in Rolpa on Tuesday. 

The IED was detonated at Triveni Rural Municipality while CM Pokhrel was on his way to attend his party committee's local assembly at Jugar of Rolpa. 

The explosion took place at around 11 am at Trikota, according to Chief District Officer Ganja Bahadur MC.

Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dipak Khadka who was accompanying CM Pokharel claimed that he was unware about the incident. 

This is the second bomb attack targetting CM Pokharel. Earlier on Monday, an unidentified group tried to launch similar attack when Pokharel was visiting Libang, the district headquarters of Rolpa. 

The Biplav-led Nepal Communist Party (NCP) claimed the responsibilities of both the explosion.
