PARBAT, April 4: With the establishment of more private schools, the education of community schools has been overshadowed. In recent years, the numbers of students are decreasing significantly in community schools, compelling many basic level schools to merge with others.

As some community schools are struggling for their existence, locals of Jaljala Rural Municipality-9, Banau have started a new campaign. Locals have made it mandatory for those receiving government salaries and allowances to admit their children to community schools.

A recent meeting of locals with the government officials decided that no government official or representatives should educate their children in private school. "No person holding a government job in Banau will be allowed to teach their children in private schools from this academic year," said Gau Bahadur Pun, chief of Jaljala-9. According to him, a meeting will be called next month to take action against those who will disobey the decision.
