MoHA orders districts to issue citizenship by birth

The Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered districts to issue a hereditary citizenship on the basis of the citizenship of a child’s parents.The Home Ministry’s decision comes at a time when the proposal to amend the citizenship act is under discussion at the Federal Parliament.At the parliament, lawmakers from both the ruling and the opposition parties are divided over some of the provisions of the proposed citizenship bill, such as citizenship through the mother and citizenship for spouses marrying Nepali nationals.   

National Development Council meets for the first time after country entered into federal set-up

The National Development Council (NDC) is meeting for the first time after the country entered into the federal set-up. The two-day meeting, which kicked off in the capital today, is expected to give final shape to the concept paper of the 15th five-year plan (fiscal years 2019-20 AD to 2023-24 AD) prepared by the National Planning Commission. The concept paper has incorporated the government's vision of "Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepal". The NDC meeting will forward the concept paper to the Cabinet for its endorsement.

Solukhumbu’s last rural municipality connected to road network

 In less than two weeks, chief minister of Province 1, Sherdhan Rai, inaugurated the Khumbu-Pasang Lamhu road -- also known as the gateway to Mount Everest. The road links Salleri to Khari Khola of Khumbu Pasanglhamu-1 via Mapyadudhkoshi rural municipality. On the occasion, Chief Minister Rai expressed commitment that the state government would provide the required budget to expand the road from Khumbu Pasang Lhamu to Chauri Kharka rural municipality.

540 leaders and cadres of Biplav-led group arrested so far

Nepal Police has arrested 540 leaders and cadres of Netra Bikram Chand 'Biplav'-led group.Such number of cadres and leaders has been arrested from different places of the country so far from Mid-April 2018 on the charge of their involvement in violent activities, according to Police Spokesperson Uttam Raj Subedi. Police also seized different documents including donation letter pad, pamphlet against the government, and document to organise arms training from the arrestees.

68 percent of world's population to live in urban areas by 2050: UN report

Around 68 percent of the world's population is projected to live in urban areas by 2050, according to a UN report released on Monday. The share of the world's population residing in urban areas is projected to increase from 56 percent in 2019 to around 68 percent by 2050. Between 2000 and 2017, the estimated number of international migrants increased by almost 50 percent, reaching 258 million in 2017. About 10 percent of all international migrants are refugees, having fled persecution or armed conflict. 

After the Moon in 2024, NASA wants to reach Mars by 2033

 NASA has made it clear they want astronauts back on the Moon in 2024, and now, they are zeroing in on the Red Planet -- the US space agency confirmed that it wants humans to reach Mars by 2033. NASA is racing to enact the plans of Trump, who dispatched Vice President Mike Pence to announce that the timetable for once again putting man on the Moon had been cut by four years to 2024.
