Prime Minister Oli to visit storm-hit Bara today

KATHMANDU, April 1: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is flying to storm-hit Bara district on Monday, officials said.

Prime Minister Oli, who is now in his hometown Jhapa, has cancelled all pre-scheduled events for today, according to Oli's advisor Kundan Aryal.

Oli will meet the victims' families in Bara. At least 25 were killed in Bara alone when the massive storm struck several villages leaving 300 injured.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, Health Minister Upendra Yadav, Urban Development Minister Mohammad Isitiyak  Rai and Physical Infrastructure Minister Raghubir Mahaseth have left for the storm-hit areas to take the stock of the situation.

A team of home ministry officials led by Secretary Prem Kumar Rai has reached worst-hit Pheta Rural Municipality of Bara to take the stock of the situation.
