EC to print separate ballot papers

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has concluded to print separate ballot papers. The conclusion came after the Supreme Court ordered the EC to print separate ballot papers for the upcoming elections of House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies under First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) electoral system.

Bus and tipper crash in Chitwan, 26 injured

CHITWAN, Oct 29: Seven are critically injured and another 19 have sustained injuries in a vehicle collision in Chitwan today, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shiva Sharma Acharya said adding that all the injured were receiving treatment at Chitwan Medical College. The accident is the second in two days. Yesterday, a bus veered off the road at Trishuli River claiming 31 lives. The Gorkha bound passenger bus Na 5 Kha 8694, carrying 26 people collided with a tipper at Ramnagar Jungle in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-1 in Chitwan district 9:30 today morning. 

Three hospitals in Nepal, India and Pak to conduct free surgeries

Three hospitals in Nepal, India and Pakistan have announced free surgeries under the aegis of SAARC Surgical Care Society. The plan has been announced during a conference in Ludhiana on Sunday, President of SAARC Surgical Care Society and principal of Lahore Medical and Dental College, Dr A Majeed Chaudhary and laparoscopic surgeon Dr Arbar Ashraf Ali, jointly announced that plans are afoot to construct three hospitals, one each in Nepal, India and Pakistan where free surgeries would be conducted.

Govt to provide training for foreign job aspirants

KATHMANDU, Oct 29: In collaboration with Foreign Employment Promotion Board (FEPB) and with financial support from Safer Migration Project, the government will provide free training to 10,000 youths aspiring to go for foreign employment. As part of the scheme, eligible firms, organizations or companies have been asked to register for running the training sessions, Raghu Raj Kafle, Executive Director FEPB said. New job aspirants can choose from various job categories including construction, hotel management, tailoring-garment and security guard. 

Nepal U-19 squad announced, batting in focus: Binod Das

The final squad of Nepal U-19 cricket team for upcoming ACC U-19 Youth Asia Cup 2017 was announced on Sunday. The tournament will be held at Malaysia from 9-20 November 2017. Dipendra Singh Airee will retain the captaincy and the lead the team in the upcoming practice tour to Bangladesh in November first week followed by Youth Asia Cup in the second week.

Hundreds of thousands rally in Barcelona for Spanish unity

Hundreds of thousands who want Catalonia to remain part of Spain rallied in downtown Barcelona on Sunday, two days after a separatist majority in Catalonia’s parliament exacerbated a political crisis by voting for the wealthy region to secede.  Organizers say the march’s goal is to defend Spain’s unity and reject “an unprecedented attack in the history of democracy.” Leaders of rival pro-union parties from the ruling conservatives, the pro-business liberals and the socialists have joined together under the slogan “We are all Catalonia. Common sense for coexistence!”
