Election should not differ under any pretext: Left alliance

Left alliance has urged all stakeholders to focus on the upcoming elections of federal parliament and provincial assemblies. Amidst dilemma following the Supreme Court’s verdict on ballot papers on Wednesday, the alliance has organized the press meet. Speaking at the program, CPN (UML) chairperson KP Sharma Oli has said that the election should not be postponed in any condition. Stating that the nomination process in underway for the first phase of the election, chair Oli added that the election cannot be deferred in political, moral and practical term which is not acceptable in any circumstances.

 

Parliament automatically reinstates if no timely elections: Prachanda

The Legislature-Parliament will automatically be restored if the elections to the House of Representatives and State Assembly are not held on stipulated dates of November 26 and December 7 this year. Speaking at a book launch of titled “History of Modern Nepal” that documents Nepal’s history from 1743 BS to 1955 BS, Prachanda urged none to cast doubts on timely elections and be vigilant towards regressive elements.

General Secretary of a CPN-Revolutionary Maoist, Mohan Baidhya, Kiran argues that neither Prachanda, Baburam or Badal are communists in an interview with Radio Nagarik. “I had immense respect and faith towards Prachanda, Baburam and Badal. While they did good in the beginning, they later accepted the old establishment. That was not our aim. We could not achieve what we aspired for from the People’s Revolution. To the decade long revolt: “We neither lost or won. We just stumbled!”

Homework on to operate Biratnagar jute mill

The Ministry of Industry (MoI) is doing preparatory works to reopen the Biratnagar Jute Mill that has been inoperational for almost two decades. MoI has demanded Rs 250 million with the Ministry of Finance to reequip the industry. Once complete, the jute mill will provide direct and indirect employment to around 15,000 people. The mill will meet nearly 75 per cent of the domestic demand for jute.  

 

RJP ‘willing’ to forge electoral alliance with NC on road areas

Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Manjeev Singh Puri has piled pressure on Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) to forge electoral alliance with Nepali Congress (NC) for upcoming elections. Despite frequent requests, RJP leaders have turned a deaf ear to the Ambassador’s pressure to leave some seats in Province 2. However, leaders opined that they were willing to forge alliance with NC on highway areas of Provicne 1,2 and 5.  

 

Elephants destroy sugarcane worth Rs. 800,000

Wild elephants straying from the Shuklaphanta National Park have gone on rampage, destroying sugarcane farming at Laljhadi rural municipality-4 of Kanchanpur district. A herd of around 20 wild elephants went on a roadrage destroying sugarcane farmlands amounting to more than Rs. 800,000 so far. Farmers said that their calls to concerned authority to resolve the problem have fallen on a deaf ear.
