6 happening malls around Kathmandu

With the Dashain festival just around the corner, shopping becomes the priority for all Nepalis. It is the time when most of us splurge on new clothes for ourselves as well as the family.

Market areas getting crowded to a point that all parking spaces are full is the clear indicator that Dashain is nearing. Numerous malls mushrooming in Kathmandu cater to the increasing customers’ demand for luxurious shopping and ample parking space.

Shopping is a tedious task and most of us want it to be convenient. Here is a list of six happening shopping malls around Kathmandu that are a one stop solution to our need for trendy and quality items. 

Sherpa Mall  

Situated at the heart of Kathmandu, Sherpa Mall in Durbar Marg was established in year 2065 BS. It targets all age groups with 20 outlets of various items, including coffee shops, an ice-cream parlor and restaurants.

The mall has clothing stores for all age groups, an Apple store and a Samsung mobile showroom. According to Suyash Shakya, of the Sherpa Mall Management Team, the stores at Sherpa Mall offer discount between 15 and 25 percent at all times. He added, “We have stores for everyone, but the clothing stores are basically targeted to women.”

Opening Time: 11 am to 8 pm

 Labim Mall 

Lalitpur Bishal Bazar Multiplex Company Pvt Ltd (Labim Mall), Pulchowk was established in 2016. The mall has a total of 59 stores and a cinema hall. The mall has 26,000 sq ft area for parking in basement and about 8,000 sq ft in the lower ground floor.

Samrat Nath Yogi, of marketing and communications department at Labim Mall said, “The mall is different from other shopping centers because we are located at the heart of Lalitpur and we have branded stores, a variety of restaurants as well as a relaxing ambience. The building is spacious with ample room for kids to play around and youngsters to hang out.” According to him, the stores are offering discounts in various ranges for the upcoming Dashain festival. 

Opening Time: 10 am to 8 pm; restaurants close at 10 pm.

KL Tower

KL Tower at Chhuchepati has over 45 stores along with a cinema hall, a grocery mart, a mobile mart and a health club. For the upcoming festival, the mall is scheduled to launch the ‘Ramailo Dashain Tihar Upahar’ starting from September 17.

Under the scheme, customers can get various prizes on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Buying products worth Rs 1,000 can get you free movie tickets as the daily prize. For weekly and monthly prizes, the mall will be giving away items like electric kettle, speaker, refrigerator and washing machine, among others. In addition to all these offers, the mall also gives discount between 20 to 30 percent on a regular basis.

 Vishwajyoti Mall

Vishwajyoti Mall at Jamal was established a year ago with over 40 stores and a hassle-free parking facility. The mall features boutiques, jewelry stores, mobile marts, cosmetics stores, accessories stores and clothing stores. Moreover, the mall also has a Big Mart so that you can also buy groceries while you shop.

Talking about the offers for this festive season, Hira Mani Timalsina, consultant of Vishwajyoti Mall shared, “For this festive season, the stores are offering 25 to 50 percent discount. Meanwhile, the mobile marts have exchange offers. We will also have daily, weekly and bumper prizes from September 18 till Chhat festival.” The mall also comprises a beauty parlor, health club and various eateries.

Civil Mall

Civil Mall, Sundhara has more than 100 stores along with a food court, coffee shops and a game zone for children as well as adults. The mall comprises stores that feature various brands of fashion attires, home appliances, electronics, accessories, shoes and bags, among other items.

“At Civil Mall, you can get anything and everything under a single roof as we are true to our tagline ‘there is something for everyone’, said Anuj Maskey, sales manager at Civil Mall. The stores here have a fixed price policy, but regular customers can get a privilege card that offers discount between five to 10 percent, informed Anuj.

BG Mall

BG Mall at Gongabu is offering ‘Fantastic Dashin/Tihar Offer’ that begins from September 18 and continues till the mid-November. The festive season offer carries discounts between 20 to 30 percent on various items.

The mall also takes care of the parking hassle as it has a double basement parking facility. Stores at BG Mall offer jewelry, chocolates, electronics items such as mobiles and home appliances, among others.
