Nepali students among those affected as ASQA cancels AIBT's registration

Nepali Congress has urged the government to focus on rescuing Nepali students pursuing a nursing degree at the Australia Institute of Business and Technology (AIBT) after Australia's vocational education and training sector decided to cancel AIBT's registration. The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) said the decision to cancel AIBT's Vocational Education and Training accreditation and the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for International Students or CRICOS registration was based on the provider's failure to demonstrate that its marketing practices were accurate and factual.          

India, Nepal to sign deal to boost conservation of rhinos, tigers

India and Nepal are all set to sign an agreement to cooperate on biodiversity conservation, including the transboundary conservation of species like the Indian rhino (Rhinoceros unicornis), Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris) and Asian elephant (Elephas maximus). The memorandum of understanding is expected to be signed before India’s upcoming parliamentary elections in April; Mongabay-India said in its news report.

Dr. Govinda KC warns of fresh hunger strike

Medical crusader, Dr. Govinda KC has threatened of fresh fast-unto-death hunger strike if the government failed to implement the agreements of the 15th hunger strike. He urged the government to hold college operators accountable and resort to legal actions if they failed to abide by the agreement's decision. Likewise, KC has also demanded action against medical colleges and legal action against former heads of the CIAA, Chief Justice of Supreme Court.   

Police arrest leaders, cadres of Bibeksheel Sajha Party

The Nepal Police arrested leaders and cadres of Bibeksheel Sajha Party including Central Committee Member Samikshya Banskota during their protest in front of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) headquarters in the capital. The police arrested the BSP leaders and cadres when they were staging demonstration urging the anti-graft body to nab the 'big fishes'. The BSP leaders and cadres protested against the menace of the growing corruption in the country. 

Trump says Pulwama attack horrible, hopes India-Pakistan get along

US President Donald Trump described the Pulwama attack a "horrible situation" and said he was getting reports on it and would issue a statement. Amid an escalation of tension between India and Pakistan, Trump hoped it would be "wonderful" if the two South Asia neighbors get along. He urged Pakistan to fully cooperate with the investigation into the attack and to punish anyone responsible.

ICC expects India-Pakistan game to go through despite tensions

The International Cricket Council is confident the June 16 World Cup match between India and Pakistan will go ahead despite last week's attack claimed by Pakistan-based militants on Indian forces in disputed Kashmir. Angry Indian fans have demanded to boycott the marquee match in England though neither of the cricket boards has publicly expressed any such desire. ICC is the world governing body for the game. More than 4,00,000 applications had been made for the 25,000 tickets available for the match.
