KATHMANDU, Feb 11: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has cautioned the government to stand vigil against those who tend to oppose development and are promoting corruption. Oli expressed concerns on how certain forces were confusing the general public by proposing options to change governments and systems.

Stating that democracy was by the people and for the people, the Prime Minister urged government officials to utilize their rights to execute their duties responsibly to promote good governance and development. He added that the people were sovereign and were entitled to express their aspirations.

Oli said so as he addressed the 69th Democracy Day Program's main committee's meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Referring to an incident where an unarmed group torched a machine at Arun III, Oli said that such action had larger interpretation. "Such acts mean that Nepal should not produce energy, bring in foreign investment and development. This is a criminal act and it should be free from politics," Oli said.
