KATHMANDU, Feb 1 : Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali is scheduled to brief the international community today afternoon on various matters including the government's foreign policy priorities and country's contemporary political situation.

Kundan Aryal, press advisor to the prime minister, told Republica Online that Foreign Minister Gyawali will brief the international community amid the presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and senior government officials.

The briefing will be held at 12:30 PM at Hotel Annapurna, Durbarmarg.

The foreign minister's briefing to diplomats is going to take place at a time when the international community has expressed concern over Nepal's long-stalled transitional justice. Likewise, the international community has expressed concern over Nepal's position on the ongoing political crisis in Venezuela.

As the world has been polarized over the Venezuelan crisis, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal earlier stated that the government had been closely following the recent political developments in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

"In line with its principled position, Nepal believes that internal political problems of a country need to be resolved within its constitutional parameters in a democratic manner, free from external interferences," the government said on January 29 adding that the people of Venezuela have the ultimate authority to take a decision on the country’s political and constitutional course.

"We stand for peace, stability and unity of Venezuela and call for resolution of differences through peaceful means," the statement further said.
