KATHMANDU, Dec 8: A total of 58 companies listed in the country’s secondary market have announced dividends to their shareholders.
Overall, Unilever Nepal Limited is giving the largest cash dividend to the company’s shareholders while Standard Chartered Bank Nepal (SCBN) takes the lead in the banking group.
According to the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), about five dozen of the companies have declared their dividends out of the accumulated profits as of the last fiscal year. Out of these, 20 are mutual funds, 13 are microfinance institutions, 11 are commercial banks, three development banks and two each from investment groups and life insurers.

The SCBN is providing 25.50 percent dividends to its shareholders. The commercial bank is providing 6.5 percent bonus shares and 19 percent cash dividends.
Likewise, Everest Bank has announced 15.53 percent dividends that include 10 percent bonus shares and 5.53 percent cash dividends. Nepal SBI Bank is providing 10.65 percent in dividends, including 3.80 percent bonus shares and 6.85 percent cash dividends.
Nabil Bank, which is one of the main attractions among investors, has declared 10 percent cash dividends to the bank’s shareholders. Prabhu Bank is all set to provide 10 percent dividends, Global IME Bank 5.50 percent, Sanima Bank 5.26 percent, Laxmi Sunrise Bank 5.26 percent and Citizens Bank is offering 4.21 percent dividends to its shareholders. According to bankers, they have been waiting for the final approval of the central bank to distribute their announced dividends to shareholders.
From the manufacturing and processing group, Unilever Nepal Limited is giving 1,714 percent and Bottlers Nepal (Terai) Limited has announced 50 percent dividends. In insurance groups, Sanima Reliance Life has announced a dividend of 18.38 percent.
