Prime Minister Oli to leave for Switzerland on January 20

Prime Minister KP Oli will leave Kathmandu for Switzerland on January 20 to participate in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), according to officials. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Prime Minister's Office are making preparations for the visit. However, the Cabinet has yet to endorse the date of the prime minister's visit.

Chinese Ambassador calls on Foreign Minister Gyawali

Newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi called on Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali at the latter's office in Singhadurbar on Tuesday. During the meeting, the foreign minister expressed the hope that Nepal-China ties would be further strengthened during her tenure.

Poudel appointed as executive director of Nepal Oil Corporation

Surendra Poudel has been appointed as the executive director of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC). A meeting of the Council of Ministers appointed Poudel as the executive director of the state-owned oil monopoly, on Monday. Poudel will have a four-year term. He is the general manager of the Udayapur Cement Industry.

Ruling and opposition parties together in development construction: Chair Dahal​

 

Former Prime Minister and Chairperson of Nepal Communist (NCP) Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that ruling and opposition parties are together in the campaign of development construction and reconstruction. Speaking in a meeting of Reconstruction District Coordination Committee, Chitwan, here today, NCP Chair Dahal said that it was necessary that all should move ahead together joining hands for development construction. 

North Korea’s Kim Jong Un arrives in Beijing for talks

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un arrived in Beijing on Tuesday at the start of a four-day visit, in what’s likely an effort to coordinate with his only major ally ahead of a second summit with U.S. President Donald Trump that could happen early this year. A long motorcade including motorcycle outriders reserved for state leaders left a Beijing train station shortly after the arrival of an armored train consisting of 20 to 25 cars — most of whose windows were blacked-out — along with tracks lined by police and paramilitary troops.

Arsenal to face Man United in FA Cup fourth round
