KATHMANDU, Jan 10: The closed session of the ongoing general convention of CPN-Maoist is underway after a brief halt following a minor scuffle over entry pass at the Nepal Academy in the capital on Thursday.
The session that was to begin in the morning was deferred following a dispute emerged after party´s Bhojpura State Committee in-charge Ram Acharya went out of contact with entry passes, prompting Rautahat district in-charge Rashid Ansari to slap Bhojpura State Committee deputy secretary Badri Bajagain. Representatives from Bara, Parsa and Rautahat districts were unable to get entry to the closed session venue. The closed session of the convention was originally scheduled for 9 am today.
Meanwhile, Madhes bureau in-charge Hari Bhakta Kandel is holding discussion with Bara district deputy in-charge Ram Ayodhya Sah and Bhojpura state committee member Rajendra Kattel and Parsa district secretary Raj Dev Paswan at the closed session hall.
Altogether 1,200 representatives, 400 observers, 300 volunteers and 100 cultural artistes are participating in the convention. The general convention was inaugurated on Wednesday.
This is the party´s first general convention following its split from the UCPN (Maoist) last June, the seventh in the history of the party and its mother party UCPN (Maoist), and the first in 21 years.
