“I had never thought that I would become owner of the bus that I drove for so many years,” Hamal, who drove the bus on Lothar-Narayanghat route for 20 years, said.[break]
Badri Poudel, owner of the bus, handed over ownership of the bus to Hamal, who is popularly known as Kalu driver in the locality, recognizing his loyal service and honesty. “Today, I have become a successful transport entrepreneur. My children received good education with the money that Kalu earned,” Poudel said, adding: “I gifted the bus to Kalu in honor of his contribution.”
Poudel, who is also the chairman of Chahari Transportation Service, also provided Rs 50,000 to Kalu.

Kalu has been driving the bus with registration BA 1 Kha 717 since 1992.
“I used to pay Rs 1,000 every daily to the vehicle owner,” Kalu said, adding: “Now that I have become the owner, I will try to maximize the earning while taking care of the vehicle and road safety.”
Kalu, who entered the automobile sector as a helper, has two daughters and one son. As a driver, Kalu used to get Rs 3,000 a monthly as salary along with Rs 300 a day as allowance.
