EPL 2018: Lalitpur Patriots thrashes Pokhara Rhinos by 8 wickets

KATHMANDU, Dec  10: Lalitpur Patriots  has defeated Pokhara Rhinos by eight wickets at their 5th match of the ongoing Everest Premier League (EPL) 2018 underway at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Monday.

Chasing the 167-run target set by Pokhara Rhinos, Lalitpur Patriots reached it in 15.5 overs losing only two wickets, with 25 balls remaining.

Right-hand batsman Gaurav Tamar top-scored for Patriots with 82 runs with four fours and towering eight sixes off 41 balls, Jaykishan Kolsawala smashed 51 runs with four fours and three sixes off 38 balls while Sunny Patel contributed 20 runs off eight balls.

In reply, Sushan Bhari and Paul Coughlin took a wicket each giving away 26 and 32 runs respectively.

Earlier, Pokhara Rhinos had set a 167-run target for Lalitpur Patriots at the cost of two four wickets  at the 5th math of the ongoing Everest Premier League 2018 underway at TU Cricket Ground on Monday.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Pokhar Rhinos notched up 166 runs losing four wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Top order batsman Richard Levi struck highest 84 runs including three fours and nine towering sixes  off 39 balls, Binod Bhandari scored 34 not out runs with three fours and one six off 23 balls while Right-hand batsman Kyle Coetzer contributed 19 runs including one four off 31 balls.

In reply, Lalitpur Patriots bowlers Pawan Sarraf took three wickets giving away 31 runs in four overs.

Earlier on Sunday, Lalitpur Patriots registered its first victory in the ongoing EPL-2018 in Kirtipur on Sunday. Lalitpur Patriots managed to beat Chitwan Tigers by 11 runs in their second match.

Similarly, Pokhara Rhinos has already suffered a defeat at the hand of Bhairahawa Gladiators.

Being held in round-robin format, a total of six teams are taking part in the EPL-2018.  The team includes Pokharas Rhinos, Lalitpur Patriots, Biratnagar Warriors, Chitwan Tigers, Bhairahawa Gladiators, and Kathmandu Kings XI.

Biratnagar is the defending champion for the tournament. The tournament which began on December 8 will wrap up on December 22.
