Sudurpaschim Province Minister sacked for misconduct

Social Development Minister of Sudurpaschim Province Dirgharaj Sodari has been relieved of the post on Tuesday. Chief Minister of the province Trilochan Bhatta sacked Sodari for his non-performance and misconduct and embezzling funds.

Party unification hits a snag over Thapa's arrogance: Rana

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (Democratic) Chairman Pashupati Shumsher Rana has accused Kamal Thapa, chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal, of being a stumbling block to the process of unification. However, Kamal Thapa has denied Rana's allegations saying that his statement is baseless and against the spirit of the party unification. "The cow, which is the symbol of entire Hindus, as an election symbol and commitment toward monarchy cannot be compromised and that these are the minimum terms and conditions he must agree to," Thapa tweeted.

Tourism Minister urges to allow NAC flying to China

Tourism Minister Rabindra Adhikari has urged Chinese Culture Minister Luo Shugang to allow national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation to fly to China. The Chinese Minister said that he'd take up the matter to the concerned authorities. Currently, the NAC does not have flights to China. However, four Chinese carriers—Air China, China Eastern, China Southern and Sichuan Airlines—connect the mainland China with Nepal. 

Police await postmortem report on Algina's murder

The body of 13 year old Algina Khadka has been sent to BP Koirala Health Sciences Academy, Dharan for postmortem. While family members and locals have claimed that Algina was raped and murdered, police are awaiting post mortem report which is set to arrive by today evening.  Police have sent the dead body to Dharan to avoid any differences in the quest for justice. Algina's half-naked body was found on Sunday afternoon near a jungle. Witnesses said that they had found napkins stuffed into her mouth, torn kurta surwal and bruises by nails on her neck. With the brutal murder, family members and locals have claimed that she was raped and eventually murdered.

 South Asians demand the release of Shahidul Alam

Former Chief Justice of Nepal, Sushila Karki is one of the 34 eminent South Asians who has demanded the release of photographer and cultural activist Shahidul Alam. Alam was forcefully taken from his home on August  5 and has been held at Dhaka Central Jail for the last 100 days. He is accused of ‘hurting the image of the nation’ while reporting on protests by young students demanding road safety. He has been denied bail five times.

California wildfires rage, death toll at 42, hundreds missing

At least 42 people have been killed in the wildfire raging in Northern California, making it the deadliest fire in the state's history. Authorities say hundreds more are unaccounted for, four days after the fire swept over the town of Paradise. Officials said that 150,000 residents have been displaced as high winds and tinder-dry conditions have helped fuel blazes that have torched more than 1,000 square kilometers of forest lands, residential communities and business districts.
