BHIMDUTTANAGAR, Nov 11: Nirmala Panta's parents have staged a sit in protest demanding justice for their daughter.

13 year Nirmala was raped and murder on July 26. Her dead body was found in a sugarcane field the next day. Three months after the incident, police are yet to identify and punish the culprit.

The parents said they wourld stage the protest round the clock until they are served justice. 

Prior to the sit-in, a rally was organized to pile pressure on the concerned authority where locals, human rights activities, leaders and students had expressed their solidarity with Nirmala's parents. 

Civil Society's leader Nara Bahadur Saud said that they would not deter from supporting Nirmala's case until the culprit is arrested and made public. Nirmala's mother Durga Devi grieved that the local authority was unable to arrest the murderer of her daughter even after such a long time. She urged the government to take cognizance of their situation and be serious towards identifying the culprit. 

Meanwhile, in Jumla, three incidetns of rape were registered aat the District Police Office this week, demanding justice be served to them. 

According to the DPO, Jumla Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sitaram Rijal two women from Patarashi Rural Municipality-2 and Tila Rural Municipality in the district had filed separate complaints against four men, stating that they had raped them on November 4. 

Police have arrested 45-year-old Bhaire Sarki on the charge of gang rape while two others alleged persons have been absconding. 

Similarly, another woman from Tatopani Rural Municipality-2 in the district filed a complaint against a local for raping her on October 18. Police have arrested Bhakta Sarki, 26, of the same locality and looking into the case, informed DSP Rijal. 

DSP Rijal said that the investigation into the rape cases had been affected in lack of trained specialists and health workers in the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, Jumla for the medical checkup of the survivor and the perpetrator. RSS
