Global Internet could crash in next 48 hours

Internet users around the world may experience network connection failures as the main domain servers and related infrastructure controlling the web will be powered down for some time. The Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), which is responsible for maintaining the registry of domain names and IP addresses, will be changing the cryptographic key that helps protect the Domain Name System (DNS) or the internet’s address book.

Separate road accidents kill five, injure 49

Five people were killed and another 49 sustained injuries in two road accidents in Sindhuli and Nuwakot. A passenger bus (Na 6 Kha 912) heading to Kathmandu from Marinkhola veered off the road and plunged about 300 meters onto the Sunkoshi river bank. Another passenger bus carrying more than 50 people veered off the road at Suryagadhi rural municipality-5, Nuwakot.   

Tourists entering Nepal from Rasuwagadi soars

 

More than 19 thousand tourists from 52 countries have entered Nepal from Rasuwagadi, according to the district's immigration office's data. The data compiles arrivals from January to September 2018. Of them, 56.38% are Chinese. 

Gautam is not going to contest by-election from Kathmandu-7, Chairman Dahal says

Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal said Bamdev Gautam would not contest a by-election from Kathmandu-7. Dahal’s remark comes at a time when the NCP leaders have been sharply divided over Gautam’s plan to vie by-election from Kathmandu-7. Most of the senior leaders of the party including party chairman and Prime Minister Oli had stood against the proposal emanating from the other party chairperson, Dahal, to field Gautam in the by-election from Kathmandu after getting incumbent lawmaker Rambir Manandhar to vacate the parliamentary seat.

Pakistan needs debt relief not another IMF bailout, say campaigners

As Pakistan seeks a $7 billion bailout from the IMF, campaigners are urging to try something different this time. Pakistan has received IMF bailout loans for 33 of the last 46 years. For all that time, almost half a century, it has been in debt crisis. IMF loans to pay off previous lenders combined with austerity is a recipe for failure, as the last 46 years have proven.

Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has threatened to quit the UFC if the organization cancels a fight involving fellow a Russian fighter over the Nurmagomedov v McGregor UFC 229 post-fight brawl. Zuybara Tukhugov was slated to fight McGregor stablemate Artem Lobov on October 27, but that match has been scrapped after the Russian entered the octagon following Khabib's 4th round submission of McGregor and traded punches with the Irishman.
