KATHMADNU, Sept 6: Minister for Foreign Affairs Prakash Sharan Mahat has assured that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal will prioritize the issue of upgrading the Gauriphanta customs point at Dhangadi to international standard during his India visit.

He said that the issue of making the customs point effective by upgrading it to the international standard will be one of the agendas of the prime minister's India visit.

He said so after representatives of Kailali Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) asked him to include the issue as one of the agenda items of prime minister's visit during a meeting at the ministry on Monday. Minister Mahat had held a meeting with the representatives to seek suggestions on benefits of upgrading the customs point to international standard.

In the meeting, the representatives said that the poor condition of the customs point has made import and export of goods from Nepal and India difficult and asked Minister Mahat to make the issue as one of the main agendas of the prime minister's visit to India. Prime Minister Dahal is flying to India on September 15 and will be meeting high-level officials including his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and President of India Prajanb Mukharjee.

Member of Parliament from Kailali Puskar Nath Ojha, President of KCCI Sankar Bogati and General Secretary Rupesh Swar, among others were present during the meeting.
