BENI (Myagdi), Feb 3: Kaligandaki Energy Development Consumer Committee has spearheaded an effort to generate 500 kilowatts of energy from Beni, the confluence of Myagdi and Kaligandaki rivers.
The electric power was generated at a total investment of Rs 500,000 in which the consumer committee donated Rs 450,000 and Beni Municipality chipped in with Rs 50,000. The power will light up Beni Bazaar's Bank Road, Sangam Chowk, Indrenitole and Awaroad, Committee Chairman Gyanendra Shrestha said.
He added that the electricity was generated with planning and technical support of one Durga Prasad Shrestha, who has a long experience in the energy sector.
The Myagdi and Kaligandaki rivers can be used to provide enough electricity for Beni Bazaar if Shrestha's technical skills can be used along with necessary investment; Committee's Secretary Rudra Prasad Subedi shared. RSS
