50 police personnel mobilized to probe Panchthar massacre

PANCHTHAR, May 21: A total of 50 police personnel have been mobilized at Miklajung rural municipality of Panchthar where nine people of two families were murdered by masked men last night.

PANCHTHAR, May 21: A total of 50 police personnel have been mobilized at Miklajung rural municipality of Panchthar where nine people of two families were murdered by masked men last night.


A team of 15 police personnel under the leadership of SSP Sharad Kumar Khatri from Federal Police Office, Dharan, has been mobilized at the murder site. To launch their investigation, police have also brought sniffer dogs.

Other two police teams from Ilam and Panchthar have also reached in the murder site. Central Spokesperson of the Nepal Police Bishwaraj Pokharel told Republica Online that police teams have been mobilized to bring the truth to the public by launching investigation from different angles.


It has been suspected that the gruesome murder was intended to finish off both the families of father-in-law and son-in-law.  


It was reported that masked men murdered nine members of two families with sharp weapons to kill the families of local Dhanraj Sherma and his father-in-law Bam Bahadur Phiya.


The only member of the families--Sita Khajum, 12, was managed to survive in the fatal attack. She has been severely injured in the attack. Mutilated bodies of five family members of Dhanraj were found inside the house, while bodies of the four family members of Bam Bahadur were recovered outside, said local Archana Gurung.
