Energy, Water Resources, Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure, Transport, and Urban Development Minister Kulman Ghising monitored the road expansion and discussed construction progress and challenges with the Department of Roads’ Director General, project heads, and contractors. He urged the project team to accelerate construction, citing the current favorable weather.
Minister Ghising emphasized prompt decisions on pending issues, full deployment of manpower and equipment, and completing the expansion by Asadh (mid-July). He noted that the Ministry of Finance has already committed funds, so budget shortages should no longer be a concern.
Previously, construction faced delays due to road boundary disputes, house relocations, and limited budget, with only Rs 70 million allocated for the current fiscal year. The project has requested an additional Rs 400 million.
Ghising also met with the chief of Banepa Municipality, urging support to resolve challenges in the Banepa market area. Meanwhile, construction progress in Package Two shows 95 percent completion of retaining walls and drains, and about 2 km of the Sanga-Dhulikhel stretch has been paved.
