Rekha Thapa is one of the most celebrated Nepali actors. She started her acting career in 2058 BS and turned into a producer in 2062 BS after four years of being in the field. Having acted in more than 200 Nepali movies and worked as a producer in a dozen, she is currently dedicated to her social campaign against child marriage in mid-western districts of the country including Surkhet, Banke and Nawalparasi. On the work front, she is eagerly looking forward to producing her upcoming movie based on a social issue.

In conversation with My City’s Sonam Lama, Thapa revealed the five things that many may not know about her.

Loves long drives

When it comes to travelling, she prefers taking long drives rather than trekking or hiking. As a part of her project, she has enjoyed long drives to various districts of Mid-western Nepal and recently embarked upon three hours’ drive to Sukute Beach. “Driving to unfamiliar places is my take on adventure and I mostly prefer going on a ride during summer,” she said.

A foodie

Though she might rarely be caught cooking in her kitchen, the actor is fond of trying new and different cuisines. She makes sure to organize food parties with her friends and family at get-togethers. Of all cuisines, Nepali and Italian are her all-time favorites. 

Perfume fascination

Be it at home or attending any kind of social event, she never forgets to smell good. She has a huge collection of both ordinary and branded perfumes that are mostly gifted. Her favorite brands are Poison and Calvin Klein. Since she has strong taste for perfumes, she prefers to buy her collection accordingly. 

Fond of classical music

She prefers classical to modern music and is well known for her good vocals for classical music among her friends and family. In her spare hours, she takes pleasure listening to Bhakta Raj Acharya, Narayan Gopal, Rajesh Payal Rai and Anju Panta. “I admire listening to old collections as I find the lyrics, music and feel of songs intensely pleasing,” she added.

Active social media user

Most of her time at home is spent working online. “Meeting people every day could not be possible, so I enjoy socializing with friends and relatives online while also keeping the updates of current happenings around the world,” added Thapa.
