Gopal Chandra Lamichhane’s journey of movie-making initiated with establishing Parbat Milan Club where he vigorously engaged himself in staging plays in his home town, Parbat. Further taking a firm hold of his passion for movie-making, Gopal now is the general secretary of Nepal Film Director Guild. Initiating his career in the field of Film and Drama from 1989, he did a ‘Production and Direction course’ from Asian Academy Film and Television, India. His works of arts like ‘Bokshi’, ‘Pitambar Le Dhakeka Laas Haru Ajhai Jiudo Chhan’ has bagged five national awards in different categories till date.
In conversation with My City’s Sonam Lama, Gopal talks about the five things that many may not know about him.
Keen on works of human psychology
Any work of art that defines human psychology fascinates Gopal. One of his initial feature films ‘Bokshi’ directed in 2009 also revolves around child psychology and has won him accolades like Special Cinema Award and Digital Cinema Award. He believes portraying human psychology in any form of art is a tough work that requires a lot of factors to be focused upon.

A skilled cook
In his spare hours, Gopal likes trying out his hands on cooking Nepali foods and enjoys having family meals. Though he has not yet tried to prepare something other than Nepali food, his culinary skills are much appreciated by his family.
A sports lover
At the age of 12, Gopal was selected for a three kilometers running race, which drew him towards sports. Prior to stepping in the field of film-making, he used to indulge in football, volleyball and running. However, he never misses out on playing football whenever he visits his hometown in Parbat.
Fond of writing
During his initial days in film and drama, he actively participated in script writing for various plays. Working as a script writer in his initial project ‘Sadak Ko Zindagi’, he further plans to write some effective books based on his observation of social issues and experiences.
A social media recluse
He only prefers sharing his thoughts via social media, nevertheless when it comes to socializing, Gopal likes to have in-person interactions. He opts for social media to keep him updated on various issues.
