Nepal secures second straight win in ACC Qualifiers

KATHMANDU, Sept 2: Nepali cricket team registered their second consecutive win by defeating Singapore at the ongoing ACC (Asian Cricket Council) Aisa Cup Qualifiers.

The national cricket team defeated Singapore by 4 wickets with 131 balls to spare in Malaysia on Sunday.

Nepal lost six wickets to  meet the target of 152 runs in 28.1 overs. 

Nepal's opening batsman AK Shah scored 43 runs in 32 balls while DS Airee and Gyanendra Malla scored 33 and 29 runs respectively. Skipper Parash Khadka made only 11 runs facing 11 balls. Similarly, opener SP Khakurel and Sagar Pun both collected 14 runs each.

Sandeep Lamichhane and Lalit Raj Banshi took three wickets each while Sompal Kami and Basanta Regmi took 2 and 1 wickets respectively to limit Singapore's team.

Singapore's skipper Chetan Suryabanshi collected 60 runs from 88 balls for his team.  Anish Param made 31 and Kartikyan Subramunyam made 20 runs whereas rest of the batsmen could not perform well resulting in setting a poor score line.

After two consecutive defeats, Nepal had defeated Malaysia by 19 runs yesterday.
