Dhankuta to remain closed every Saturday

DHANKUTA , Aug 12: Dhankuta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has decided to close down the Dhankuta market every Saturday to give the businessmen a day-off in line with other cities in the country.



“We took the decision in presence of local businessmen,” said Lalchandra Godhawa, president of DCCI. According to Godhawa, those who violate the decision would be fined up to Rs 5,000. Around 500 shops in Dhankuta remained closed on Saturday. [break]



Badri Poudel, a trader at Dhankuta market, said the new rules would give the local businessmen a respite from their hectic workload. An 11-member team led by Ridam Shrestha, a local trader, has been formed to monitor implementation of the rule.
