JAJARKOT LANDSLIDE UPDATE: Death toll reaches 9, rescue efforts ongoing

10: 14 AM: Bodies of eight children and a woman have been recovered as the death toll in Jajarkot's landslide reached 9. The deceased have been ideintified as: Bodies of five children been recovered. Efforts to recover bodies of two more children and a woman is ongoing. Those deceased have been identified as:
Narendra Pariyar (13), Nabin Pariyar (11), Govinda Pariyar (8) and Darshak Pariyar (10) of Kuse rural municipality ward 5
Najma Bohora (8) , daughter of Tirtha Bohara of Barekot -4
Bhagwati-9, Ranjana-6, Manisha-3 and wife Trishala Sitala of Lal Bahadur Lahor have been recovered.
Lal Bahadur Lohar-31 of Bheri municipality-6 who sustained injuries is undergoing treatment at Jajarkot Hospital. Dead bodies of his three daughters and wife is being recovered.
According to police, four more children are feared to have been buried in the landslide.
9: 36 AM: Eight year daughter of journalist Tirtha Bohora has been found dead in the landslide, according to police personnel.
JAJARKOT, Aug 5: Children and women are among the dozen that are feared to have been buried in a landslide at Thati Bazaar of Bheri municipality-3.
The commuters were buried after landslides fell on top of the road and buried two houses. The land caved in from the house of Om Jung Shah and fell on top of the houses of Tirtha Bahadur Bohora and Gopal Sunar along the road side.
According to Lab Kumar Pun, a local resident, majority of those buried include children and women.
“The passersby were walking when the landslide buried them,” Pun who witnessed the landslide said.
The Nepal Army, Police, Armed Police Force and local residents are struggling to rescue those buried due to incessant rainfall since yesterday midnight.
