KATHMANDU, July 31: The government has decided to send an eight-member delegation led by joint-secretary Rabi Shankar of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies to India to participate in the first meeting being held for reviewing the Nepal-India Trade Treaty, which was last revised in October 2009. A cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Monday decided to send the delegation to India with the mandate to sign the treaty on behalf of the Government of Nepal, according to Information Minister Gokul Baskota. The meeting is scheduled for August 9. Upon Nepal's request, the two countries had revised the Trade Treaty in October 2009, hoping to reduce the widening trade imbalance. The revised Trade Treaty was automatically renewed in 2016 for the next seven years without any changes.
