Man shot dead in Saptari

LAHAN, July 13: A 45-year-old man was shot dead by a group of gunmen on Thursday night in Sareshwor-5, Saptari district. Police has arrested one Tarkeshwar Yadav on the charge of killing Chandranarayan Yadav.



An eyewitness Rameshwor Mahato of Saraswor-6 said Chandranarayan along with three of his friends was returning home from Barsain market when a group of 10 to 12 persons attacked them. [break]



“The people were waiting for us. They attacked us with batons,” Mahato said. “Soon they shot Chandranarayan in the stomach,” he added. According to locals, Chandranarayan was killed over a dispute over construction of VDC building.



Yadav breathed his last while being rushed to Lahan hospital for treatment. The dead body has been kept at the hospital for autopsy. Saptari police Chief Ganesh Bahadur Thapa said. “We have arrested Tarkeshwar and other facts about the incident would soon be uncovered,” he said.
