The construction of private houses of beneficiaries – legally partitioned yet having joint ownership of land – has not gained any momentum. House construction of the newly-registered beneficiary households having multiple ownership of land is not making any progress in lack of separate land space for the same, according to the District Project Implementation Unit of Earthquake Housing Reconstruction Project.
The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) has yet again failed to endorse acting Chief Justice Deepak Raj Joshee as the country’s new chief justice. The meeting of the PHSC held at Singha Durbar could not decide whether or not to endorse Joshee to the post and has sought more discussion. The next meeting of PHSC is scheduled for Wednesday at 3.30 pm.
Local people from the northern belt of Damak-3, Jhapa district are facing the crisis of pure drinking water. In order to ensure smooth supply of drinking water to the villagers here, the Government of Nepal in collaboration with different donor agencies had operated a drinking water project from nearby Mawa stream. Fire officials in Greece raised the death toll from a wildfire that raged through a coastal area east of Athens to 91 and reported that 25 people were missing Sunday, six days after Europe’s deadliest forest fire in more than a century. Before the national fire service updated the official number of fatalities, it stood at 86 as hundreds of mourners attended a Sunday morning memorial service for the victims in the seaside village hardest-hit by the blaze.
