NASA, GoldenGate registers important win

KATHMANDU, July 2: NASA and GoldenGate registered win on Monday in the Morgan Cup 12th Men´s and 11th Women´s National Basketball Championship.



In a dramatic match, NASA defeated South Siders by 7 points as the final score was 84-77. Siders had taken lead in the first three quarters with 17-15, 26-22, 20-18 eight.[break]



Siders lost its key player Sanjay Byanjankar in the third quarter and Wisdom Pandey was also benched in the fourth quarter with three minutes remaining for the final buzzer. NASA took the fourth quarter 29-14 and registered important win in the league round. Binod Maharjan scored 20 points for the winning team while Byanjankar scored 18 points.



In another match played at Dasharath Stadium Covered Hall, Sushil Gurung netted 40 points as GoldenGate thrashed Far Western Region by 143-37. GoldenGate took all the quarters by 40-8, 32-5, 32-10, 39-14 for the victory. Milan Lama scored 24 points for the Far western.



In the match played at Morgan College, Alisha Malla´s nine points guided Premier girls´ team for a 51-21 victory over Kaski. Premier took the first quarter 15-4 and took the second 22-7. Kaski and Premier netted six points each in the third quarter. Premier took the fourth quarter by 8-4.
