Burtibang Bazaar in Baglung hit by flood

BAGLUNG, July 18: Flash flood triggered by incessant rains here last night inflicted damage on the Burtibang Bazaar, the center of Dhorpatan Municipality in Balgung. The flood from the local Thado River entered the settlement, causing physical losses. 

The floodwaters caused damage to 15 huts used for business purposes, destroying some of them completely. Four cemented building suffered partial damage in the flooding, Area Police Office, Burtibang. Earlier, on Tuesday, the local administration issued a warning to the locals, about the possibility of disaster. The flood, however, resulted in no casualty as the locals were warned in advance. The ground floor of the under-construction Burtibang Primary Health Post has been submerged. 

Health facilities based in the market area, bus park area and Devchowk were hit the most by the disaster, according to a local Ram Narayan Subedi. The incessant downpour throughout the night forced the people to spend sleepless nights. The Local Disaster Management Committee has urged one and all to gear up for the rescue efforts.
