Teenager goes missing and a dozen families displaced due to landslide

PARBAT, July 18: A teenager has gone missing when a landslide triggered by incessant rain swept away a house at Lasti Berneta of Jaljala rural municipality in Parbat district last night. 

Sixteen years old Bikas Pariyar, son of Bam Bahadur Pariyar has gone missing after their stone and mud house was swept away by the landslide at 1 am today. Police suspect that the youth is buried by the landslide. 

Fifteen houses in the settlement at Lasti Berneta are at risk of landslide following the incessant rain since last night. The residents have been evacuated, police said. 

Six people were injured when the house of Bhimlal Acharya collapsed due to landslide at Baskot, Dhairing of Jaljala rural municipality. The incident took place at night when the people were asleep. The injured have been taken to local hospital. 

Meanwhile, the Maldhunga-Beni road has been obstructed due to landslide at Pang of Kushma municipality.  

Man swept away by river, dies
PARBAT, July 18: A man was killed after being swept away by a swollen river at Gangate of Kushma municipality on Tuesday evening. The victim is 60-year-old Maniram BK of Kushma Municipality-1. He was swept away by the local Jahare stream while crossing it, police said. 

It is said BK had consumed alcohol at that time and was returning home after working in the fields. His body was found 100 metres downstream. Although there is a suspension bridge near the place, BK did not use it. The body has been brought to the Parbat District hospital for a post-mortem.  RSS
